BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team extended its winning streak to three straight and moved to 4-3 on the season with a 49-14 Liberty League victory at Buffalo State on October 26. The Bombers posted a season-high in points and tied their highest output of offensive yardage with 486 in the contest.
The Bombers won the coin toss and deferred to the second half and Buffalo State only reached the 10-yard line following the opening kickoff. On the ensuing snap,
Owen O'Neill and
Aidan Parry sacked the Bengals' quarterback in the end zone to give IC a 2-0 lead just 10 seconds into the contest.
Ithaca began its first offensive possession at the 39-yard line and quickly moved into Buffalo State territory thanks to a pair of personal foul penalties on the Bengals. IC's lead grew to 9-0 with 12:21 to go as
Jake Williams scored from eight yards out on first and goal.
IC's lead grew to 16-0 with 6:48 remaining in the quarter as
Matthew Parker found
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne out of the backfield for a 23-yard touchdown pass. On the drive, Leonard-Osbourne accounted for 71 yards with 41 through the air and 30 on the ground.
Two plays into the Bengals' next possession,
Joe Spirra made a diving interception at the BSC 38-yard line to notch his third pick of the season in as many games. The takeaway turned into seven more points for the Bombers as Leonard-Osbourne scored from two yards out to make it 23-0 with 3:43 to go.
Nicholas Lang highlighted that drive with a 20-yard reception on the first snap.
Within the opening minute of the second quarter, Williams took the ball on back-to-back carries and scored on a 5-yard run to push IC's advantage out to 30-0. Late in the second quarter, Buffalo State broke off a pair of 40-plus yard runs to move inside the IC 5-yard line and then scored on a 2-yard rush with 4:22 before halftime to make it 30-7.
Spirra intercepted his second pass of the game in the final seconds of the first half and then IC took a knee to head into intermissions.
To begin the second half, Leonard-Osbourne returned to kick 35 yards and then scored his third touchdown of the contest on a 55-yard jaunt with 13:25 on the clock. IC missed the PAT to make the score 36-7. After that, IC burned nearly nine minutes off the clock with an 18-play, 80-yard drive, but turned the ball over on downs inside the 5-yard line.
Early in the fourth quarter, IC blocked a punt and recovered at the Buffalo State 1-yard line. The next snap resulted in a sneak by Parker for a rushing touchdown to give IC a 42-7 lead after another missed PAT with 10:41 left in the game.
IC tacked on another touchdown to make it 49-7 on a 1-yard run by
Ahmad Taylor with just under three minutes to go. Buffalo State scored the final points of the contest with 1:12 to go on a 42-yard touchdown pass to account for the 49-14 score.
Leonard-Osbourne ran for 126 yards on 12 carries and caught four passes for 44 yards. He also returned three kicks for 70 yards. Parker completed 21-of-25 passes for 219 yards on a touchdown and ran for a touchdown, while Lang led the receivers with 55 yards on four receptions. Williams accounted for 49 yards on the ground and 36 yards receiving.
Ryan Burns led the defense with seven total tackles, while
Jake Connolly finished with six stops.

Carson Ciancuielli each notched solo sacks in the win.
The Bombers head to Union College next Saturday, November 2 for a 1 2p.m. kick.
