Men’s Basketball Utilize 3-Point Ball to Down Skidmore, 74-60

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team got back on the winning track on Saturday as the Bombers defeated visiting Skidmore College inside Ben Light Gymnasium, 74-60, behind 16 made 3-pointers in the contest. Ithaca is now 10-6 on the season and 5-4 in the Liberty League.

IC's offense was balanced throughout the game as nine players scored, and seven Bombers netted more than six points. Triston Wennersten led the way with a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds, while Aidan Holmes, Andrew Geschickter and Cole Wissink both scored 11 points.

Logan Wendell finished with eight points, eight assists and four rebounds, while Bryce Bleibtrey also tallied eight points with nine boards. Jaylon O'Neal finished with six points and Evan Cabral added five points and five assists. Jose Padilla scored the other two points for IC.

Skidmore jumped out to a 6-0 lead just 1:31 into the contest and held onto its advantage until Geschickter drilled a three with 11:20 to go in the half to put IC ahead, 17-15. The Bombers never looked back from there as they built an eight-point lead at 23-15 behind four points from O'Neal and a bucket by Bleibtrey.

With 2:50 remaining, Bleibtrey hit a three to give IC its first double-digit lead of the game at 35-24. Another Bleibtrey three and a layup from O'Neal extended the Bombers' lead to 40-24 before Skidmore closed out the half with four straight points to make the score 40-28.

IC made 10 3-pointers in the first half.



The second half was never in doubt as IC never relinquished its double-digit advantage and went up by as many as 22 points at 68-46 with just over five minutes to play. IC's final points of the game were scored at the free throw line by Padilla with 25 points left and Skidmore scored the final basket to account for the 74-60 outcome.

The Bombers hit the road next weekend for games at Hobart and Union.
