ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team dropped its second consecutive Liberty League game as the Bombers fell to RIT, 90-80, in Clark Gymnasium on Tuesday evening, January 16. The contest this evening was a makeup game from the previously schedule matchup at Ithaca on January 9. Ithaca is now 9-5 on the season and 4-3 in the Liberty League.
Ithaca drilled a 3-pointer by
Andrew Geschickter on the opening possession of the game but never led again as the Tigers went on a 20-5 run over the next six minutes to build a 20-8 lead.
IC trailed by double digits for most of the half but pulled back to within a single point on an
Aidan Holmes three to make it 33-32 with 6:13 remaining. Just over two minutes later, RIT extended its lead back out to nine points at 46-37 and went into halftime with a 52-44 advantage.
The Bombers would keep their deficit to single digits until a 3-pointer by the Tigers pushed the spread to 12 points at 67-55 with 13:03 left in the contest. Ithaca could never pull back to within nine for the remainder of the game and RIT came away with the 90-80 victory.
Geschickter and
Cole Wissink led IC in scoring with 15 points each. Geschickter went 5-for-12 from the field with three rebounds and three assists, while Wissink shot 5-of-7 from the floor and 3-of-5 from 3-point range to go along with five rebounds.
Logan Wendell and
Evan Cabral also reached double figures with 14 points apiece. Wendell made 7-of-10 attempts at the free throw line and Cabral shot 5-for-10 from the floor. Holmes chipped in eight points and five rebounds, while
Bryce Bleibtrey added seven points and five boards.
Ithaca will look to get back on track this weekend with home games against RPI and Skidmore on January 19-20.
