ITHACA, N.Y. – Seven members of the Ithaca College men's rowing team were named 2023 Empacher-IRCA Scholar-Athletes as announced by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association on Tuesday.
To be named an IRCA Scholar-Athlete rowers and coxswains must be in their second, third or fourth year of eligibility, have competed in one of the top three boats during the season or raced at the 2023 IRA Championships and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 through the fall semester.

In addition,
Jake Lentz earned the Ithaca's first-ever All-American honor from the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association as he was recognized on the Second Team.
In order to be named an "All-American", rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria:
- The student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules defined by their institution
- The student must have raced in their team's varsity boat for the current spring racing season
- The student-athlete must be nominated by their institution
- The head coach of the student athlete's institution must be in good standing with the IRCA
2023 Empacher-IRA All-Americans
Nominated student-athletes are then selected by the IRCA Board of Directors to "1st team", "2nd team", or "Honorable Mention" based on the following criteria:
- Strength of finish of the institution's varsity boat
- Nomination rank within institution
- Coach's comments, individual achievements, and erg score
The Bombers 1V finished in second place at the 2023 Liberty League Championships, falling to St. Lawrence. Ithaca finished in fifth-place in the 1V petite final at the National Invitational Rowing Championships, finishing ahead of Hamilton College with a time of 6:06.31.
