Brendan Sheehan picked up his first collegiate All-American honor on Friday, May 26 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at St. John Fisher University as he tied for fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.75 meters (15' 7").

Sheehan was one of six vaulters to tie for fourth as he earned 2.5 points towards Ithaca's team total. Accompany that with the 10 from
Dom Mikula's national title performance, IC finishes with 12.5 points and was fourth in the standings through six completed events.
Sheehan entered the championship as the lowest seed, which was 22nd. He was one of 11 entries to clear the first height of 4.60 meters (15' 1") to set the initial tiebreaker. Three people were eliminated at 4.75 meters (15' 7") as Sheehan cleared on his first attempt to now be in an eight-way tie for first place.
Nearly the entire field would be eliminated, including Sheehan, at 4.90 meters (16' 0.75"). But due to his successful clearances as the previous two heights, Sheehan locked in All-America status.
He becomes the 43rd All-American in men's track & field history.
