ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 22 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Liberty League Championship with a 20-6 victory over Skidmore on Senior Day at Higgins Stadium on April 29. With the win, Ithaca finishes its regular season with a 10-7 record.

It took Skidmore just 30 seconds to build a 1-0 lead as the Thoroughbreds scored on a free position. Ithaca answered at the 12:07 mark as Maizy Veitch scored off a pass from Chloe Nordyke.

IC earned its first lead of the contest nearly four minutes later as Nordyke scored off a free position to make it 2-1, but the Thoroughbreds answered with 6:32 remaining to knot the game up at 2-2.

The Bombers went back ahead, 3-2, on a goal from Elizabeth Green with 4:23 left on a pass from Leigh Naturale. Veitch scored her second goal of the quarter with just 34 seconds remaining after scooping up a groundball off a wide shot to give the Bombers a 4-2 advantage heading to the second period.

In the second quarter, Wise and Veitch scored just 10 seconds apart to extend IC's lead to 6-2 with 12:12 left in the half. Veitch's hat trick was assisted by Lexi Kellish, which forced Skidmore to call a timeout. The Bombers closed out the half with another goal to extend the difference to five at 7-2 as Lily Cody scored with just 47.5 seconds on the clock.

IC's run continued into the third quarter as Kellish scored on a free position just 1:02 into the period, making it 8-2 Bombers. Two minutes later, Naturale scored on another free position for IC, and then Sydney Phillips caught a pass on the run from Veitch and found the back of the net with just under 10 minutes to go.

With 9:17 on the clock, Wise intercepted a pass and raced down the field to find Veitch in transition to push IC's lead to 11-2. IC hit the 10-goal difference with just over eight minutes left in the third quarter as Nordyke scored once again.

Skidmore ended IC's run with 5:20 remaining in the third quarter to pull back to within a 10-goal difference at 13-3. The running clock came to an end with 2:36 to go in the third as the Thoroughbreds got on the board again. Skidmore then added its third consecutive goal on a free position with 1:47 to go.
