ITHACA, N.Y. — The Ithaca College women's team wrapped up their 2023 regular season with a 3–6 loss to RPI on Sunday afternoon. The Bombers conclude the regular season with an 8–9 record overall and a 3–5 record against Liberty League opponents.
RPI was able to take two of the doubles matches, as L. Flores Gonzalez and Nikki Ridenour defeated
Rebecca Andrews and
Zoe Davis 8–2, and Sabrina Grewal and Brooke Bauer dropped
Eliana Chelnick and
Sarah Kohberger 8–6. The duo of
Taylor Crain and
Caroline Herz came out victorious, beating Alex Mednikova and Masha Karach 8–6.
In singles play, Davis lost to Flores Gonzalez 6–1, 6–2 in the first match to finish. Following her was Andrews falling to Mednikova 6–4, 7–6, and
Sabrina Cheung defeating K. Flores Gonzalez 4–6, 6–3, 7–5. Crain came up just short against Ridenour, falling 7–6, 6–4, but Kohberger defeated Grewal 2–0 after Grewal forfeited. In the last match to finish, Herz lost to Bauer 2–6, 4–6.
The Bombers season was highlighted by a 9–0 win over RIT in their first Liberty League contest of the year, as well as two other 9–0 wins against Bard College and Hartwick College. Ithaca College secured the No. 5 seed for the upcoming 2023 Liberty League Championships where they will square off against the No. 3 seed RPI on Friday, April 28.
