Men's Tennis Falls to Vassar on Saturday

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's tennis team dropped its Saturday afternoon match to Vassar College, 8–1 at the Wheeler Tennis Courts. The Bombers' lone win came from Carlos Hernandez in the No. 5 singles spot as the Bombers lost close matches all around. 

The Bombers got swept in the doubles slate, falling in tight matches in the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. Nico Luis and Tyler Del Zoppo fell 8–7 to Vassars No. 1, Fernando Bauermeiste and Nolan Kubiak. In the No. 2 spot, Hernandez and Siddharth Vaada fell to Russel Oh and Miles Sondergaard-Je, 8–6. 

In the No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Luis and Vaada each fell in close three-set matches. Luis won a big second set over Bauermeiste to force a third, but fell 6–3 in the final set. Vaada fell 10–6 in the third set to Benjamin Almquist. 

In the No. 5 spot, Hernandez defeated Sondergaard-Je, winning the first two sets 6–2 and 7–5. In the No. 6 spot, Ean Lantzy played a tough match, falling 6–4 and 6–3 in his sets. 

Ithaca now has a 6–8 record with a 1–5 record in the Liberty League. The Bombers have two more matches left on the regular season with its next match on Saturday against St. Lawrence University at 2 p.m.
