SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 13 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team suffered its first Liberty League loss of the season at Union College on April 1 as the Bombers fell to the Dutchwomen, 13-11, at Frank Bailey Field. Ithaca is now 7-3 overall on the season and 4-1 in the Liberty League.

IC and Union were tied at 11-11 heading into the fourth quarter, but the Dutchwomen scored the eventual game-winning goal just 34 seconds in the period and tacked on the final goal of the game at the 4:38 mark. The Bombers were held to just five shots during the final 15 minutes of action, four of which occurred over the final 2:11 and were all saved.

Prior to that, Union jumped out to a 6-2 lead after the first quarter of play. Union tallied its first two goals of the quarter just 1:24 apart to build a 2-0 lead, but the Bombers answered at the 10:13 mark on a free position from Chloe Nordyke.

The Dutchwomen then increased their lead to 4-1 before IC could find the back of the net again, as Caroline Wise took a pass from Maizy Veitch with 4:14 remaining. Union closed out the first quarter with two more goals in the final minute.

Both team scored three goals in the second quarter as Union took a 9-5 lead into halftime. Lily Cody scored the first goal of the period for IC with 7:18 remaining, but the Dutchwomen then pushed their lead out to 9-3 before Sydney Phillips scored off a pass from Nordyke with 2:26 to go and then Veitch capped off the period with 18 seconds to go.

The Bombers came out strong in the second half and outscored Union, 6-2, in the third quarter to tie the contest heading to the final quarter. Union tallied a goal just 45 seconds into the quarter, but the Bombers responded with a 5-0 run over the next four minutes to knot the game at 10-10.

Wise and Nordyke scored 24 seconds apart to make it a 10-7 difference and then Maddie Hall tallied a goal at the 12:30 mark to pull to within two. Nordyke then notched her hat trick with 10:53 remaining and Veitch tied the game off a feed from Hall with 9:43 left. Union ended the run a minute later and Wise capitalized off a pass from Gabby Rivera with under three minutes remaining in the quarter.
