SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Ithaca College women's tennis team suffered its first loss of the season against Skidmore College this afternoon, falling 8–1. The Bombers are now 2–1 on the season.
The Bombers started in doubles play but couldn't find success as duos.
Rebecca Andrews and
Zoe Davis fell to Ella Provost and Grace Truong by the score of 8–3. In the second match,
Taylor Crain and
Caroline Herz were defeated by Chanhtel Thongphok and Maya Lal by the same score. In the third and final doubles match,
Eliana Chelnick and
Kayla Shenk lost to Konika Dhull and Beilynn Geiss 8–1.
Ithaca was unable to turn it around in singles, as the team went 1–5 in their individual matches. In the first match, Crain secured the victory, with the sets going 7–6 (7–5), 6–4. Andrews and Davis both lost in two sets with each set going 6–1, with Andrews falling to Truong and Davis to Katherine Almquist. Shenk lost to Provost 6–0, 6–2, Dhull defeated Chelnick winning both sets 6–2, and Corpuz beat Herz 6–3, 6–1.
The Bombers look to bounce back on their spring break trip where they'll play Springfield College on March 13 in Orlando, Florida.
