No. 13 Women’s Lacrosse Completes Perfect Weekend with 15-10 Win over Clarkson

ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 13 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team took down visiting Clarkson University, 15-10, on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Stadium in a Liberty League matchup. The Bombers improve their overall record to 7-2 and remain perfect in the Liberty League at 4-0.

Ithaca struck first just over two minutes into the contest as Chloe Nordyke scored off a pass from Caroline Wise. Clarkson then tied the game a minute later before the Bombers went back ahead, 2-1, on the first of six goals on the day by Maizy Veitch with 7:28 left in the quarter.

The Golden Knights answered back at the 5:16 mark to knot the score at 2-2, but IC took control of the contest from there and outscored Clarkson, 9-3, for the remainder of the first time to take an 11-5 lead into intermission.

Maddie Hall, Nordyke and Veitch all scored to close out the first quarter as IC led, 5-2.

In the second quarter, Veitch scored three more times, while Sydney Phillips tallied two goals and Lexi Kellish scored the sixth goal of the period.

Clarkson would outscore the Bombers by a goal in the third quarter, 4-3, but both teams scored just once in the final 15 minutes to account for the 15-10 final tally.

In the third, Hall got the scoring underway for IC and then Veitch found the back of the net once again. Wise would score the final goal of quarter for the Bombers as they went into the fourth with a 14-9 advantage. Nordyke concluded IC's scoring in the fourth quarter with 11:02 left.

Wise finished the game with nine draws, while Kellish won seven.

Maggie Mandel paced the defense with three caused turnovers and three groundballs, while Olivia Puppo also had three caused turnovers and three groundballs.

Lexi Held made nine saves in cage for her seventh win of the season.

The Bombers are on the road for their next four games, beginning with Union on April 1 at 12 p.m.
