ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's tennis team were defeated 7-2 on Thursday afternoon at the Goergen Athletic Center as the Bombers fell to the University of Rochester. The Yellowjackets took the first six matches to clinch the victory. The Bombers dropped to 5-3 on the year while Rochester improved to 3-5.
In doubles action,
Taylor Crain and
Caroline Herz were successful at No. 2 doubles taking down Rola Abouzeina and Jaclyn Dron by an 8-5 score.
Zoe Davis and
Rebecca Andrews were defeated by an 8-2 score and
Eliana Chelnick and
Sabrina Cheung lost a tight 8-4 decision to Rochester's Neha Dania and Stephaine Kim.
Cheung would pick up the other point of the day for Ithaca, winning the final singles match of the evening at the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 6-2, defeating Stephanie Kim.
The Bombers will play their first home match of the season hosting SUNY New Paltz on Saturday. The matchup is slated to begin at 1 p.m. inside Glazer Arena.
