AUBURNDALE, Fla. – The Ithaca College baseball team concluded its Spring Break trip to Florida on Saturday with a 5-2 loss to No. 11 Rowan University at Lake Myrtle Park. Ithaca will return to New York with an overall record of 7-6.
Rowan on the board in the top of the first evening and never gave up the lead as an outfield error gave the Profs a 1-0 lead.
A two-run home run for Rowan extended its lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning, but IC answered with a run in the bottom half on an RBI single from
Garrett Callaghan, which brought in
Riley Brawdy.
Rowan would score twice more in the fourth inning off
Colin Leyner as a pair of sacrifice flies made it a 5-1 game.
IC's final run of the contest crossed the plate in the seventh inning as
Louis Fabbo drove in
Ethan Daddabbo with a base hit.
Brawdy and Fabbo, along with
Gil Merod all had two hits in the loss.
Leyner tossed 7.0 innings and allowed four earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
Erislandy Rives threw the final two innings of relief and struck out one batter.
Ithaca is scheduled to play Scranton at home on March 22 at 3 p.m.
