ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The national ranked No. 15 Ithaca College men's track & field team totaled 51 points during the opening day of the Liberty League Indoor Championships at RIT on Friday. Ithaca is 29 points by RPI for first and 28.5 points behind Rochester for second.
Justin Showstead won the shot put with a school and meet record mark of 16.41 meters (53' 10.25"), which moves him up to eighth on the NCAA Division III list.
Daniel Hutchinson won the long jump as he measured out 6.98 meters (22' 10.75").
IC took four of eight spots in the pole vault as
Dom Mikula won at 4.91 meters (16' 1.25").
Shaun Herlihy took runner-up honors at 4.76 meters (15' 7.25"), while
Callum Howald was fourth at 4.61 meters (15' 1.5").
Robert George came in sixth with a clearance of 4.31 meters (14' 1.75").
Nathaniel Oczkowski posted a time of 51.49 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place eighth overall.
Through four events in the heptathlon,
Brendan Sheehan sits in second place with 2,677 points, just 16 points out of first. Sheehan took first overall in the 60-meter dash (7.22 seconds), long jump (6.76 meters) and shot put (12.19 meters ).
Oczkowski will run in tomorrow's 60-meter hurdles final after finishing second in the prelim at 8.41 seconds.
Three Bombers will run in the 60-meter dash final as
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne won with a facility record time of 6.80 seconds.
Andy Frank took third at 7.03 seconds and
Anthony D'Addetta was eighth at 7.15 seconds.
