ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 24 Ithaca College men's track & field team put together a solid meet at Cornell University's Marc Deneault Invitational on Saturday as the Bombers now turn their attention to the Liberty League Championships next Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 at RIT.
Justin Showstead once again broke his own school record in the shot put with a mark of 16.28 meters (53' 5") to move him all the way up to eighth on the NCAA list. Showstead won the event by nearly two feet. He also competed in the weight throw and placed third at 15.31 meters (50' 2.75").
Brendan Sheehan also made headlines with his huge mark in the pole vault of 5.02 meters (16' 5.5") to finish second overall and move all the way up within the top five with his personal best mark. Sheehan surpassed his previous best by .3 meters.
Noah McKibben was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.65 meters (5' 5") and
Connor Wallenbeck took third at 1.60 meters (5' 3").
Dom Mikula also cleared 5.02 meters in the pole vault to finish third overall.
Matt Lokshin secured sixth in the triple jump at 11.89 meters (39' 0.25").
Shaun Herlihy had a personal best of 4.57 meters (15'0") in the pole vault to take eighth place.
Robert George had a personal best of 4.27m (14'0") in the pole vault as well to finish ninth.
