HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Competed in their second match of the 2023 spring season, the Ithaca College men's tennis team dominated Houghton University en route to its second win on Saturday.
The Bombers saw their first win of the day come at No. 1 singles where
Nicolas Luis cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Micah Schilke. It was more of the same at No. 2 singles, this time it was
Eric Dubilirer managing 6-0, 6-1 scores over his opponent to put the Bombers up 2-0. The lone singles win for Houghton came at No. 3 as it was a back and forth match between Jamie Staerkle and
Siddharth Vaada with Staerkle winning the three-set thriller (6-1, 4-6, 10-6).
Max Sobel got the job done defeating Nolan Zach by set scores of 7-5 and 6-4.
In doubles action, Ithaca brought home victories at both No. 1 and No. 2 as in the top spot,
Siddharth Vaada and
Eric Dubilirer teamed up to down the duo from Houghton by an 8-4 score. The other IC win came via
Jimin Woo and
Jacob Wachs as they beat their opponents 8-2.
Ithaca College improved to 2-0, while Houghton dropped to 0-2 on the season. The Bombers remain on the road for their next match when they travel to Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday, Feb. 25 to compete against RIT in their first Liberty League matchup of the season. The match is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
