BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team traveled to Bridgewater State University to open the BSU Cave Classic on Friday evening and wound up on the wrong end of a 100-89 decision in the Adrian Tinsley Center. Ithaca is now 2-1 on the season and will play at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
Ithaca led by six points at the half, 41-35, but the Bombers were unable to withstand the second half onslaught by the Bears. Bridgewater State shot 25-for-38 (65.8-percent) in the second half with seven makes from 3-point range to account for 68 points of the final 20 minutes of action. Bridgewater also finished the night with 54 points in the paint.
Ithaca did score 48 second half points and made eight 3-pointers to finish the game 14-of-40 from beyond the arc.
Logan Wendell finished the night with 27 points on 9-of-20 shooting from the floor, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range. Wendell also dished out seven assists.
Aidan Holmes nearly tallied a double-double with 13 points on 5-for-13 and pulled down eight rebounds.
Evan Cabral also reached double figures with 10 points, while Trison Wennersten added nine points and eight rebounds.
Jaylon O'Neal contributed nine points and
Andrew Geschickter finished the evening with eight points 10 minutes of action.
The Bombers will play at 1 p.m. tomorrow to wrap up the tournament against either Johnson & Wales or WPI.
