ITHACA, N.Y. - The No. 24 ranked Ithaca College volleyball team had yet another impressive sweep over a Liberty League opponent. The Bombers hosted the Golden Knights of Clarkson on Friday night in Ben Light Gymnasium and beat them in three-straight as they claimed the Liberty League title and the No. 1 seed in the upcoming postseason tournament. Ithaca improves to 20-4 overall and undefeated in the Liberty League.
VS. CLARKSON (25-16, 25-14, 25-14)
Ithaca started off strong in the first set due to an impressive sequence of points from senior middle
Jamie Koopman. She had three-straight points that consisted of a block and two kills, which made the score 5-1. Clarkson fought back a bit with nice plays, furthering the score to 10-5, still in favor of Ithaca.
Maddie Cox produced a block at the net and
Faith Sabatier responded with a kill that made the score 12-8. A block and kill from
Gabriela Gonzalez-Abreu forced Clarkson to call a timeout. After the timeout Ithaca took full control. Exciting plays from both the front and back row allowed for the Bombers to further their lead, ending the set with a score of 25-16.
The second set started with three kills from
Ella Graper,
Faith Sabatier, and
Jamie Koopman (3-2). Ithaca kept a solid lead over the Golden Knights thanks to the front row for Ithaca, which consists of
Jamie Koopman,
Ella Graper,
Naomi Clauhs, and
Faith Sabatier. All contributed kills to make the score 17-6. An impressive dig from
Julia Costa, ended up being a point for the Bombers, furthering the IC lead to 21-13. The set ended in a kill from
Naomi Clauhs (25-14).
The final set started with a kill from
Gabriela Gonzalez-Abreu and an ace from
Ella Graper. Kills from
Faith Sabatier,
Jamie Koopman, and
Samantha Klemm made the score 8-5. Clarkson began to catch up with some good plays (9-7), but a block and kill from
Ella Graper crushed that hope. After a Clarkson timeout, the Bombers defense kept the Golden Knights to four points. Kills from Gonzalez-Abreu,
Jamie Koopman, and
Ella Graper sealed the win for Ithaca. The set ended in a
Faith Sabatier kill (25-14).

Julia Costa with 23 digs.

"I'm so proud of what we have accomplished so far," said Dulfer. "Perhaps the most exciting thing is that we continue to get better in practice every day. I hope that means were not done yet and can continue peaking as we look towards postseason play. We are ready for the next few weeks and are excited to see what they will bring."
The Bombers will conclude its home regular season slate on Saturday hosting a tri-match with both the University of Scranton and Clarkson. They will play each other at 1 p.m. and Ithaca will square off against Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
