Men's Soccer Drops a 2-1 Loss at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.– The Ithaca College men's soccer team suffered a 2-1 road loss on Friday. The Bombers fell to 6-5-2 on the season while the Brewers improved to 7-4-4 as they scored both of their goals within the second half.

This Liberty League battle was tight throughout as both teams were clicking from the start. Vassar's offense got things started as Jackson Allen put one on net that had to be turned away by Ithaca goalkeeper Johannes Berghahn. In the 24th minute, Ithaca had an impressive defensive stand as Vassar earned three corner kicks within five minutes.

The majority of the first half was a defensive battle as neither team wanted to give the other an inch. Both defenses were shut down, and the first half ended with the score being knotted at zeroes.

Once the second half started, the script completely flipped as both teams had tons of chances to push offensive transition. It was the Bombers offense that was able to capitalize first as Jack Walker was able to score an absolute beauty from Connor Tierney putting the Bombers up 1-0.

The Ithaca lead held for the next 25 minutes however, everything changed in the 81st minute as Vassar was able to take advantage. Danny Berry was able to tuck in the equalizer making it 1-1. Not even two minutes later, the Brewers sucked all the life out of the Bombers as Jackson Hall scored to give Vassar the 2-1 lead.

Despite some late offensive pushes, Ithaca was unable to find the equalizer ultimately dropping this contest 2-1. Jack Walker, Alex Cabeca and Drew Warren all had one shot attempt Johannes Berghahn had two saves.

Ithaca's next contest will be in Rochester, N.Y against RIT next Wednesday, October 24 with a 4 p.m. start time.
