Women’s Blanks Skidmore, 1-0, in Rainy Conditions

ITHACA, NY– The Ithaca College women's soccer team was able to keep up their superb Liberty League play as they took down the Skidmore Thoroughbreds on Carp Wood Field with a final score of 1-0. Ithaca was able to improve to a 9-2-1 record while Skidmore fell to 5-4-4.

The action in this one occurred right away as the Ithaca offense was aggressive from the start. Julia Cascone was the first aggressor as she ripped one on net that was stopped by Skidmore goalkeeper, Claire Wolgast. However, just a couple minutes later in the fourth minute, the Carp Wood Crowd rose to their feet as Sarah Sinnott put one in the back of the net for Ithaca giving them the early 1-0 lead. This was one of the quickest Ithaca tallies all season long and they couldn't have come out much faster.

After the early goal, Ithaca continued pushing transition offensively as Kaelyn Fernandez and Ally Stanton put two more shots on the cage that had to be stopped by Wolgast.

Skidmore was able to counter with an offensive push that saw Madison Hallet and Molly Cunningham put a couple testers on net that needed to be turned away by Ithaca netminder Grace Hickey.

After a few more close calls for the Bombers, the first half came to an end with Ithaca hanging on to their one goal advantage over Skidmore.

The second half was the Hickey show, especially with the Thoroughbreds pushing for the equalizer. She made two saves within the first five minutes of the second half stopping shots from Madison Hallet and Ella Stone.

Despite the strong pushes from Skidmore, Ithaca was able to hang on to their lead and the contest finished with a 1-0 Bomber victory.

Fernandez and Cascone led the Bombers with two shots on goal each. Hickey recorded another clean sheet, making six saves in the contest for the Bombers.

Ithaca's next contest will take place on Saturday, October 21st on Carp Wood Field with a 3pm start time.
