Win Streak Ends for Field Hockey at William Smith, 1-0

GENEVA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end at William Smith on Friday as the Bombers fell to the Herons, 1-0, at McCooey Field. Ithaca is now 10-4 on the season and 3-1 in the Liberty League, while William Smith moves to 8-5 and 3-1.

IC withstood a barrage of offense chances for the Herons in the first half, as William Smith outshot the Bombers, 9-1, but could not put a goal on the board. William Smith also earned seven corners.

Alex Clough was up to the task during the opening 30 minutes with four saves to keep the game deadlocked at 0-0.

IC's lone shot in the first half from Emma Garver was blocked.

William Smith wasted no time in the third quarter to put home the eventual game-winning goal as the Herons fired off two consecutive shots, the second of which from Hannah Huston beat Clough.

The Bombers dominated possession for the remainder of the period with five shots and four corners, but could not find the equalizer.

William Smith would end up outshooting IC, 11-7, and held a 7-5 edge in corners.

Clough finished with five saves in the loss.

IC returns home for Senior Day on Sunday, October 15 at 2 p.m. against Rochester.
