ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team competed in the College Challenge Cup hosted by Nazareth College on Saturday at the Golisano Training Center. Ithaca finished fourth overall with 73.5 points
Justin Showstead highlighted the day for IC as he placed first in the shot put with a throw of 15.39 meters (50' 6") breaking a 40-year school record set back in 1983 by James Pryor of 15.33 meters (50' 3.50"). Showstead also finished fifth in the weight throw at 15.59 meters (51' 1.75").
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne was another first place finisher in the invitational 60-meter dash with a time of 6.86. Anthony D'Addetta also competed in the 60 and finished fifth in a personal best time of 7.18.
Dom Mikula took the top spot in the pole vault at 4.85 meters (15' 11"), while Tyrell Penalba won the open 60 dash in 7.39 and CJ Jones was second in 7.40 – both personal bests.
Andy Frank came in third in the 200-meter dash in a season best time of 22.41. Nathaniel Oczkowski took fifth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.24.
Shaun Herlihy and Brendan Sheehan tied for third in the pole vault at 4.40 meters (14' 5.25"), while Callum Howald was sixth at the same height.
IC entered a team in the 4x400 and Oczkowski, Frank, Alex Whatley and Conor Ryan placed fifth in 3:28.80.
Daniel Hutchinson picked up a fourth place finish in the high jump at 1.81 meters (5' 11.25") and was sixth in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters (21' 6.75").
Ithaca hosted the Bomber Invitational next weekend, February 4-5, in Glazer Arena. Saturday will be Senior Day for the program.
