ITHACA, N.Y. – On Sunday the Ithaca College swimming & diving programs hosted the 11
th Annual Dick Comanzo Diving Invitational inside the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium in the Athletics and Events Center.
The morning diving consisted of 11 dives on each board, starting with the women's 3-meter, followed by the 1-meter and vice versa for the men competing on Sunday. The Bombers were joined by divers from Hartwick, SUNY Cortland and SUNY Oneonta.
The 2022-23 regional cut scores were as follows and in order to qualify divers need two scores off each board in order to qualify for the regional meet: women's 1-meter- 395, women's 3-meter- 410, men's 1-meter- 425, men's 3-meter- 440.
In the men's action,
Kian Long took home first-place on the 1-meter board with a score of 479.95 as this was also his second NCAA cut score of the season, which qualified him into the regional meet. Jack Armstrong from Hartwick took second place with a score of 471.75, followed by IC's
Zack Kalinowski who put together a 399.05. Armstrong (435.75) bested Kalinowski on the 3-meter boards as the senior did total 388.05, which was good for second place.
It was an impressive afternoon for
Leah Levin who won the 1-meter board as well as
Karalyn Pawcio who finished second in that event and won the 3-meter competition. In the 1-meter event, Levin easily surpassed the NCAA standard by putting together a total score of 517.75. Also hitting the mark was
Rachel Lange (479.25),
Abby Marraccino (466.30),
Jenell Slesser (412.45),
Angela Burke (401.95),
Eliza Salus, and
Natalie Soloway (395.45), who achieved the feat for the first time in her collegiate career.
The NCAA qualifying standard of 410 for 11 dives on the 3-meter boards was this time surpassed by
Karalyn Pawcio (533.75),
Abby Marraccino (520.35),
Rachel Lange (487.40),
Eliza Salus (457.85),
Jenell Slesser (457.25) and
Audrey Scott (426.00).
The Bombers are back in action next weekend when they travel Union College on Saturday afternoon. It is the final dual meet of the season for IC.
