Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Hangs On at Union, 80-71

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's basketball team got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon at Union College with an 80-71 victory to improve to 11-5 overall and 7-2 in the Liberty League. Ithaca used a 50-point second half to pull away late in the contest. Despite the nine-point final spread, the game featured eight ties and 10 lead changes.

Luka Radovich earned a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds as he shot 7-of-15 from the field and was perfect at the line, going 4-for-4. Skylar Sinon turned in his best performance of the season with 19 points in 21 minutes off the bench as he was 6-for-11 overall and 6-for-6 at the stripe with three steals and three rebounds.

Liam Spellman pulled down nine rebounds with six points, while George Sikoryak III added nine points. Andrew Geschickter chipped in eight points in 15 minutes of action, while Zach Warech went 2-for-5 from 3-point range for six points.

IC shot 48.3% (29-for-60) from the field and was 12-for-14 at the line, including 12-for-13 in the second half. The Bombers also turned 12 turnovers into 20 points and received 34 points from the bench.

Union jumped out to an 18-10 lead over the opening nine minutes of the game, but IC answered with 10 straight to take a 20-18 lead behind five points from Sinon, a 3-pointer from Triston Wennersten and layup from Geschickter.

From there, IC and Union were tied three times and changed leads on three other occasions until the Dutchmen took a 32-30 advantage into intermission.

Ithaca scored the first six points of the second half to establish a 36-32 advantage within the opening 2:40 and held onto that edge until Union went back ahead, 41-39, with 14:52 on the clock. The Bombers then went back on top, 45-41, with back-to-back 3-pointers from Radovich and Warech.

There would be three more ties up to 56-56 at the 8:54 mark, but after a bucket from Sinon with 8:13 to go, the Bombers never trailed again.

Ithaca will return home next weekend to play Hobart on January 27 and RPI on the 28th.
