POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team finished second overall at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships hosted by Vassar College over the weekend. Ithaca accumulated 216 points and finished by the University of Rochester, which totaled 230 points. The second place finish is the first time since 2007 in which Ithaca has not won a conference outdoor title.
Logan Bruce was named the field performer of the meet after she won the long jump and finished second in the javelin yesterday, to go along with a first place finish in the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.25 seconds (14th in Division III), a second place performance in the 4x100-meter relay in 49.02 seconds, a fourth place showing in the high jump at 1.53 meters (5' 0.25") and sixth place finisher in the 200-meter dash in 25.98 seconds.
Katelyn Hutchison was the top performer in the 400-meter dash in 56.18 seconds, which moved her up to No. 11 on the Division III list. Hutchison also took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.06 seconds.
Moriah Byrd won the heptathlon with a top score of 3967 points, while
Abbey Stowell finished second just 20 points behind at 3947.
Gwen Gisler placed sixth with 2903.
Ariyahna Bernard won the shot put at 11.94 meters (39' 2.25"), while Stowell was fourth at 11.28 meters (37' 0.25") and Byrd finished eighth at 10.66 meters (34' 11.75"). Bernard also competed in the discus and placed eighth with a mark of 35.08 meters (115' 1").
Lindsay Scott clocked a time of 4:44.66 in the 1500-meter run to place second overall, while
Natalie MacArthur was fourth in the 400 at 1:00.37 and
Katharine Downey placed sixth in a time of 1:01.78.
Paloma De Monte was a runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2:14.35, while Scott placed seventh with a time of 2:22.00.
Ithaca's 4x100-meter relay of Bruce, Hutchison,
Sara Brown and
Emily McGrath were second place finishers in 49.02 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay of Hutchison, Downey, MacArthur and
Megan Giovanniello took second overall in 4:04.16.
Ava Fowler took second place honors in the 5000-meter run with a time of 17:50.74 while
Luca Pecora claimed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.55, and McGrath was fifth in 1:07.72.
Gabrielle Schlessinger was sixth in the high jump at 1.48 meters (4' 10.25") and Brown also ran in the 100-meter dash and finished with a time of 12.77 seconds to come in seventh place.
