Men’s Track & Field Leads After Day One of Liberty League Championships

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's track & field team leads the Liberty League Outdoor Championships after the first day of competition at Vassar College, as the Bombers totaled 73 points on the day.

The Bombers took five of the top seven spots in the pole vault as Dom Mikula led the way in first with a clearance of 4.70 meters (15' 5"). Callum Howald placed third at 4.40 meters (14' 5.25"), while Brendan Sheehan was fourth at the same height and Shaun Herlihy took fifth at 4.25 meters (13' 11.25"). Matthew Weil finished seventh with a mark of 4.10 meters (13' 5.25").

Justin Showstead won the javelin with a toss of 57.77 meters (189' 6"), while Luke Tobia prevailed in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.18 meters (181'). Showstead also competed in the hammer and was third at 49.96 meters (163' 11").

Daniel Hutchinson claimed runner-up honors in the long jump with a mark of 6.83 meters (22' 5"), while Akap Takor was fourth at 6.69 meters (21' 11.5") and Aaron Davis came in seventh with a distance of 6.58 meters (21' 7.25"). Takor also qualified in eighth for the 100 with a time of 11.40 seconds.

Danny Jagoe placed fourth overall in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 30:54.78.

Nathaniel Oczkowski qualified to compete in three finals events tomorrow as he posted the top times in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.84 seconds, the 400-meter dash in 50.02 seconds and the 400-meter hurdles in 57.66 seconds.

Andy Frank posted the fastest qualifying time in the 100-meter dash in 10.97 seconds and 200-meter dash at 22.00 seconds, while Anthony D'Addetta was fifth at 11.27 seconds in the 100 and fourth in the 200 at 22.53 seconds.

Alex Whatley was a sixth place finisher in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.05 and will run in tomorrow's final. Zachary Woodruff recorded a time of 59.50 seconds in the 400 hurdles to finish eighth and move onto the final.
