GENEVA, Ohio – The Ithaca College men's track & field team wrapped up the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships on Saturday at the SPIRE Institute with a pair of All-American performances from
Dom Mikula and
Nathaniel Oczkowski. With seven points, Ithaca finished in a tie for 35th.
Mikula claimed his fifth career All-America honor – the most in program history – on Saturday as he finished fifth in the pole vault at 4.95 meters (16 feet, 2.75 inches). Mikula began his competition at 4.65 meters and cleared the bar on his first try, as well as 4.80 meters on his second height. The bar then moved to 4.90 meters, which was cleared on Mikula's second run and secured his spot on the podium. He moved into the top five after clearing 4.95 meters on his third attempt.
Oczkowski earned his first All-America performance and became the first hurdler in IC men's track & field history to become and All-American as he finished sixth, where he was seeded entering the competition, in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 52.81 seconds.
Luke Tobia was also in action on Saturday and finished 13th in the hammer throw with a mark of 54.52 meters (178' 10"). Tobia marked 54.34 meters on his first throw and then 54.42 meters. His final heave traveled 51.92 meters, but he came up more than a meter short from advancing into the final.
