Track & Field Teams Finish Fourth at AARTFC Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
The Ithaca College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships at Moravian College on Wednesday and Thursday and both programs finished fourth overall after the two-day event. The women finished with 48.5 points, while the men finished with 47.5.

This is the final race of the season before the national qualifiers head off to the NCAA Division III Championships in Geneva, Ohio from May 26-28. The official announcement of qualifies will be released on May 20.

Geneseo dominated the women's portion of the championship with 134 points, besting runner-up Brockport by more than 70 points. Rowan won on the men's side over Carnegie Mellon, 101.5-91.

Men's Results

Nathaniel Oczkowski won the 400-meter hurdles in a new school record time of 52.45 seconds, which moves him up to No. 6 on the Division III list. Oczkowski also clocked a 110-meter hurdle prelim time of 14.94 seconds to qualify for the final in fourth place and would improve to third place after his final race at 14.88 seconds.

Andy Frank took fifth in the 200-meter dash in 21.77 seconds and placed eighth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.30 seconds.

Luke Tobia measured out 55.16 meters (181') in the hammer throw to place third overall. In the shot put, Kevin Danaher was third at 15.31 meters (50' 2.75") and Justin Showstead finished seventh with a mark of 14.86 meters (48' 9").

On Wednesday, Dom Mikula finished second in the pole vault at 4.80 meters (15' 9").

Shaun Herlihy was a sixth place finisher in the pole vault with a mark of 4.55 meters (14' 11"), while Brendan Sheehan also cleared 4.55 meters to come in seventh.

Danaher took eighth overall in the discus with a mark of 46.59 meters (152' 10").

Women's Results

Logan Bruce improved on her personal best time in the 100-meter hurdles to qualify for the final at 14.11 seconds, which was just .01 seconds shy of matching the school record. Bruce would finish second in the final with a time of 14.24 seconds.

Moriah Byrd placed third overall in the heptathlon with 4220 points. Byrd was first in the shot put at 11.55 meters (37' 10.75") and in the javelin with a mark of 33.26 meters (109' 1").

In the hammer throw, Liana Shames placed fourth with a mark of 48.24 meters (158' 3"), while Ariyahna Bernard was seventh at 46.42 meters (152' 3").

Bruce also competed in the long jump and came in sixth place at 5.71 meters (18' 8.75").

Charly Slusser was an eighth place finisher in the high jump at 1.55 meters (5' 1").

On Wednesday, Ithaca took the top three spots in the pole vault as Meghan Matheny won with a mark of 3.86 meters (12' 8). Martha Kemp-Neilson finished second at 3.71 meters (12' 2") and Sara Altonen was third with a mark of 3.61 meters (11' 10").
