Track & Field Posts Improvements at ROC City Final Qualifier

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –
The Ithaca College men's and women's track & field teams are in the process of tuning up as both programs head into championship season. The Bombers traveled to Nazareth on Sunday for the ROC City Final Qualifier and two student-athletes moved up the national list into qualification status, while another reset their own school record.


Men's Results

Kevin Danaher once again broke his own school record in the discus with a heave of 48.12 meters, which is currently No. 32 in the country. That mark was good for third in the event on Sunday. Danaher was the runner-up in the shot put at 15.92 meters.

Dom Mikula claimed the top spot in the pole vault at 4.92 meters, while Shaun Herlihy was seventh at 4.55 meters.

Andy Frank won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.98 seconds, while Anthony D'Addetta was fourth at 22.77 seconds. D'Addetta also took fifth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.04 seconds.

Frank was also third in the 400-meter dash in 48.87 seconds. Zachary Woodruff came in fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 59.31 seconds.

Justin Showstead took second in the javelin at 55.11 meters and placed fifth in the shot put at 15.03 meters.

Nathaniel Oczkowski placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.09 seconds and sixth in the 200 at 22.96 seconds.

The IC 4x100-meter relay of D'Addetta, Frank, Aaron Davis and Akap Takor placed fourth with a time of 42.31 seconds.

Davis also competed in the triple jump and took fifth at 13.57 meters, while also competing in the long jump and finishing sixth at 6.54 meters.


Women's Results

Logan Bruce won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.18 seconds, just edging out Geneseo's Gwen Shepardson by .01. With that time, Bruce is now ranked 14th in Division III.

The Bombers dominated the pole vault on Sunday as Meghan Matheny won with a top mark of 3.91 meters, moving her up to No. 2 in the Division III list. Martha Kemp-Neilson finished second at 3.65 meters, while Sara Altonen was third with a clearance of 3.35 meters. Jamie Rossig and Kennedey Heichel tied for fifth at 3.20 meters.

Katelyn Hutchison was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.87 seconds.

Megan Giovanniello also posted a second place finish in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:20.58, while Rachel Rose was sixth in the event at 2:23.09.

Ariyahna Bernard placed third in the shot put at 12.58 meters and sixth in the hammer throw at 45.21 meters. Liana Shames was fourth in the hammer at 46.65 meters, while Charly Slusser was a fourth place finisher in the high jump at 1.60 meters.

IC's 4x100-meter relay of Bruce, Hutchison, Sara Brown and Emily McGrath took fourth in 48.82 seconds.

Brown also competed in the long jump and placed seventh at 5.35 meters.
