ITHACA, N.Y. – The No. 10 Ithaca College women's lacrosse team posted another powerful offensive performance on Friday evening after coasting to a 23-3 victory over Bard College at Higgins Stadium. This marks the third game this Spring that the Bombers have scored 20 or more goals. The lopsided win puts IC at 9-1 overall on the season and 5-1 in Liberty League action while the Raptors drop to 2-9 (0-6).
Head Coach Karrie Moore's team received scoring contributions from 12 different Bombers. The offense also outgunned Bard 33-to-8 in the shots-on-goal department, while the defense forced 11 turnovers.
Ithaca was led offensively by Megan Motkowski, Elizabeth Green, and Alexa Ritchie who all registered three goals each. Maizy Veitch, Maddie Hall, Sydney Phillips, and Juliana Espositio all added two scores each on the day as well. Freshman June O'Reilly also connected on her first goal of her Bomber career early in the fourth quarter.
Ithaca wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as the unit amassed seven goals within the first six minutes behind Ritchie, Motkowski, and Veitch's two goals apiece.
The Bombers continued to capitalize on its offensive opportunities with five additional goals to cap off the opening quarter and take an overwhelming 12-0 lead early on.
Ithaca jumped out to an impressive 16-1 lead at halftime with nine different players notching a goal.
After the half, IC tallied three more goals that were spearheaded by sophomore Lexi Kellish. The midfielder registered her first goal of the contest at 6:53 in the third off of a free position shot. With 16 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Kellish followed up with another free position goal to put her team in front 19-3.
The Bombers found their final four goals of the evening in the fourth quarter highlighted by O'Reilly's first-career goal with 11:14 remaining.
Ithaca College continues its stretch of Liberty League home games tomorrow evening when the red-hot squad welcomes Vassar College to Higgins Stadium. Faceoff is slated to start at 4 p.m.
