ITHACA, N.Y. - The Ithaca College men's tennis team fell to the visiting Hamilton College Continentals 6-3 Wednesday afternoon in Glazer Arena. With the loss, the Bombers fall to 8-9 team record on the season.
Sophomore Nicolas Luis was the sole IC competitor to take home wins in both singles and doubles this afternoon.
Luis and fellow sophomore Jacob Wachs recorded Ithaca's sole doubles victory, dispatching Hamiltion's Gianni Esposito and Nicolas Gritz 8-5.
Graduate student Minos Stavrakas grabbed the Bombers next win in the second singles slot, bringing his individual record to 9-6 so far this season. After dropping the first set 6-7(3), Stavrakas battled back to dominate the second 6-2 and take the super tie-breaker 10-7.
In the first singles slot, Luis secured IC's final individual victory of the match. The sophomore downed Hamilton's Connor Griff 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 to improve to 9-7 in singles this season.
Sophomores Eric Dubilirer and Deon Kraft played tough matches in the third and fourth singles spots respectively, both falling to their opponents in the super tie-breakers after winning the first sets.
The Bombers return to conference play this Saturday, April 30, in Canton, N.Y. against Liberty League opponent St. Lawrence University. Start time is slated for 2 p.m.
