POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Ithaca College golf program competed at the Vassar College Invitational over the weekend, April 16-17, on the par-72, 5,810-yard Casperkill Golf Course and finished sixth among 10 teams with a two-day total of 669 (+93). This is the final regular season golf outing of the season for the Bombers before the Liberty League Championships on April 30 and May 1.
It was a solid weekend for IC despite the elements of 30-degree temperatures, rain and wind as the Bombers shot 332 (+44) on Saturday and was sixth overall. Ithaca then carded a 337 (+49) on Sunday and remained in sixth ahead of Hamilton (671 +95), Cortland (678 +102), Wesleyan (718 +142) and Trinity (749 +173).
New York University won the invitational by one stroke over Amherst (618-619), while Williams placed third (630 +54). Middlebury came in fourth with 656 (+80) and Wellesley finished fifth at 659 (+83).
Cristea Park was IC's top finisher on the weekend as she placed in a tie for 12th with a 160 (+16). Park fired a 78 (+6) on Saturday and carded an 82 (+10) on Sunday.
Rheanna DeCrow placed in a tie for 25th overall with a 165 (+21). DeCrow came in with an 84 (+12) in the opening round and trimmed off three strokes on Sunday with an 81 (+9).
Mary Gersec posted a 171 (+27) and finished in a tie for 33rd, while
Caitlin McGrinder was tied for 39th at 174 (+30).
Katherine Chan rounded out IC's weekend with a 179 (+35) as she finished 44th overall.
