Women’s Tennis Reaches 10 Wins in 6-3 Conference Victory Over William Smith

GENEVA, N.Y. - Junior Zoe Davis clinched the 6-3 win for the Ithaca College women's tennis team over William Smith this Friday afternoon. With the victory, the Bombers reach 10 wins for the first time since the 2017 spring season and improves to 3-2 record in the Liberty League.

Davis, first year Eliana Chelnick and junior Caroline Herz took home wins in both doubles and singles in Ithaca's conference triumph.

Herz and junior Sarah Sposito grabbed the most dominant doubles win of the afternoon for Ithaca, easily dispatching their William Smith opponents 8-1 in the third slot. Davis and Chelnick followed their teammates, recording a 8-6 win over the Herons' Isabelle Goings-Perrot and Julia Pida at second doubles.

In the fifth singles spot, Herz notched the first Bombers singles win of the day. The junior defeated William Smith's Crystal Morgans smoothly 6-1, 6-0. First year Kayla Shenk took home the next singles victory in the fourth slot, taking down her opponent 6-0, 6-3.

Davis went on to secure the team win for Ithaca next at third singles. After winning the first set 6-4, the junior dropped the second to force a tiebreaker. Davis then took the super tiebreaker by five points to win the match 6-4, 4-6, 10-5.

Chelnick rounded out the wins for IC with the most commanding victory of the afternoon, shutting out the Herons' Charlotte Sanford 6-0, 6-0.

Up next, the Bombers will travel to Clinton, N.Y. on April 20 to take on Hamilton College in non-conference play. Start time is slated for 4:30 p.m.
