SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Ithaca College softball team put together another pair of impressive performances on Friday as they swept Union College on the road by scores of 6-2 and 7-1. The Bombers improved to a perfect 6-0 in the Liberty League and are 15-8 overall.
Ithaca 6, Union 2 (F)
It didn't take long for the IC offense to churn out hits which resulted in the Bombers plating four run in the top of the first inning.
Julia Loffredo cleared the bases and earned a pair of RBIs when she slapped a single into a gap and with smart base running she was able to advance all the way to third thanks to a Union College throwing error.
Sela Scheinman picked up an RBI when she drove in Loffredo on a fielder's choice that made it 4-0.
Scheinman connected on her first career collegiate homerun with a two-run blast putting the Bombers up 6-0 in the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth inning Tara Hartnett launched a solo homer and Union added another run in the inning when Olivia Valery was plated on a fielder's choice cutting the IC lead to 6-2.
Riley Piromalli escaped a late sixth inning jam and picked up her fourth win of the season in the pitching circle. The junior also tallied a season-best nine strikeouts.
Ithaca 7, Union 1 (F)
The Bombers once again plated the first run of the game this time,
Allison Dell'Orto singled then stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a wild pitch. Ithaca maintained it's 1-0 lead.
It was until the top of fourth inning that IC exploded for four runs on three hits.
Daniella Mulvey laced a double to left center that drove in
Hudson Hassler. It was followed up with another hard-hit double, this time from
Tava Kasper who drove in a pair. Dell'Orto drove in the final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly.
Union notched a run in the bottom of the fourth, but the Bombers added to their lead scoring two more on two hits making it 7-1 in the sixth frame.

Julia Loffredo each produced RBI at-bats within the inning.
Anna Cornell (8-2) allowed just four hits, while striking out seven in a complete game win in the pitching circle.
Due to expected weather on Saturday in Rochester the doubleheader with the University of Rochester has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 30. The Bombers will return to action at SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday, April 19 with the first game of the doubleheader slated for 3 p.m.
