DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Ithaca College baseball team notched a 7-2 victory over Stevenson on Saturday at Northeast Regional Park in IC's final game of its spring trip to Florida. The Bombers went 6-1 during the trip and will return to South Hill with an overall record of 10-2.
Stevenson scored an unearned run in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead, but IC tied things up at 1-1 in the bottom half as
Ethan Rothstein drove in
Connor Pedersen with a double to the right-center gap.
The Bombers then scored a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth to build a 6-1 edge.
In the fourth,
Gil Merod drove home
Nicholas Cutaia with a single and then
Ryan Laubscher belted a solo homerun in the fifth.
Louis Fabbo added another run in the fifth with a base hit and
Collin Feeney scored.
IC's lead grew to 6-1 in the sixth as Rothstein cranked a two-run homer to left with
Matt Fabian on base. A double steal by the Mustangs got a run back in the top of the seventh, but the Bombers wrapped up the contest with a run in the bottom of the seventh as Fabbo scored on a wild pitch.
Ithaca recorded 14 hits in the win as five Bombers notched two hits apiece.
Nate Scott earned the win in 7.0 solid innings of work as he struck out five and allowed just four hits and one walk.
Colin Leyner and
Garrett Bell each tossed an inning in relief.
The Bombers head to Scranton on March 23 at 4:30 p.m. and then open Liberty League play with a three-game series at Skidmore on March 26-27.
