Six-Run Fourth Propels Baseball Past Franklin & Marshall, 10-5

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Ithaca College baseball team got back on the winning track Tuesday morning as the Bombers defeated Franklin & Marshall, 10-5, at Chain of Lakes Park Stadium. IC is now 6-2 on the season.

The Bombers utilized a six-run fourth inning to break the game open and produced six extra base hits in the win and stole five bases.

After a 1-1 tie through three innings of play, a lead-off double from Connor Pederesen was followed by an RBI triple from Collin Feeney. Riley Brawdy brought home Feeney with a sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1. Back-to-back doubles from Louis Fabbo and Buzz Shirley put another run on the board, and after a walk to Gil Merod and hit by pitch to Ryan Laubscher loaded the bases, Matt Fabian was plunked as well to make the score 5-1. The inning was capped off by a two-run double off the bat of Pedersen.

F&M got a run back in the top of the fifth, but IC scored twice more in the bottom half to account for a 9-2 difference. Both runs – Fabbo and Shirley – crossed the plate on a double from Nicholas Cutaia.

Ithaca's final run crossed the plate on an RBI single from Fabbo in the seventh to bring home Brawdy.

Pedersen went 3-for-5, while Fabbo and Shirley both went 2-for-4.

Nate Scott earned the win in 5.0 innings with five strikeouts and two earned runs on four hits allowed.

Ethan Buckley, Dan Kellechan and Brett Budzak combined to throw the final four innings of relief.

IC takes on Wisconsin-La Crosse tomorrow at 9 a.m. back at Chain of Lakes.
