RESULTS
ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 5 women's track & field team secured its fourth consecutive Liberty League championship, and 14th straight, at Glazer Arena inside the Athletics and Events Center on Saturday. The Bombers totaled 236.5 points over the two-day championship, while Rochester finished second with 171 points, which marked the closest team score outcome since IC joined the Liberty League in 2017.
Tia Jones was named Track Athlete of the Meet after a stellar weekend which culminated with first place finishes in the 60- and 200-meter dash, and a fifth place showing in the 400-meter dash. Jones competed in the 400 on Friday and posted a time of 59.96 seconds. On Saturday, she won the 60 in 7.72 seconds and then set a meet, facility and school record in the 200 at 24.82 seconds – that time is now No. 1 in the country.
Logan Bruce won the 60-meter hurdles with a final time of 8.95 seconds, while
Liana Shames convincingly won the weight throw with a mark of 15.48 meters (50' 9.5").
Katelyn Hutchison was the runner-up in the 60 dash in 7.93 seconds and placed fourth in the 200 at 26.10 seconds.
The Bombers took three of the top four spots in the 800-meter run.
Paloma De Monte came in second with a time of 2:19.22, while
Lauren Lobdell followed in third at 2:20.81, and
Lindsay Scott finished fourth in 2:21.51.
Ithaca's 4x400-meter relay team of Scott,
Emily McGrath,
Natalie MacArthur and
Katharine Downey placed second overall in 4:07.68.
Ariyahna Bernard placed third in the weight throw at 14.66 meters (48' 1.25"), while
Sydney Strelec was a fourth place performer in the triple jump with a top mark of 10.52 meters (34' 6.25").
