RESULTS
ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 19 Ithaca College men's track & field team will find itself in a fight for the Liberty League title tomorrow as the Bombers concluded the first day of competition with 74 points, just 1.5 behind RPI for the top spot, inside IC's Glazer Arena at the Athletics and Events Center on Friday. Seven of 17 events were completed on the day.
Justin Showstead got the Bombers off to a nice start in the championship with a first place finish in the shot put with a mark of 15. 32 meters (50' 3.25").
Luke Tobia finished fourth at 14.24 meters (46' 8.75").
Nathaniel Oczkowski won the 60m hurdles prelims to qualify for tomorrow's final and set the school record at 8.37 seconds, while
Daniel Monchek finished in third with a time of 8.65.
Oczkowski also ran in the 400-meter dash and finished as the runner-up in a time of 49.99 seconds, while
Zachary Wachs was eight in 51.57 seconds.
The Bombers dominated the pole vault, taking four on the top six spots.
Dom Mikula led the way with another Liberty League title, as he cleared 4.85 meters (15' 11").
Brendan Sheehan was third overall with a mark of 4.55 meters (14' 11"), while
Callum Howald followed in fourth at 4.40 meters (14' 5.25").
Shaun Herlihy posted a mark of 4.25 meters (13' 11. 25") to claim sixth.
IC also took three spots on the podium in the long jump as
Aaron Davis and
Daniel Hutchinson went 2-3 in the event. Davis measured out 6.86 meters (22' 6.25") and Hutchinson posted 6.76 meters (22' 2.25").
Daniel Monchek also competed in the long jump and placed seventh at 6.58 meters (21' 7.25").
Jalen Leonard-Osbourne also advanced to the final in the 60 dash with a first place time of 6.81 seconds, which set a meet record.
Andy Frank was the runner-up in the prelim at 7.09 with
Anthony D'Addetta coming in seventh at 7.19 and
Aaron Davis in eighth at 7.23.
Danny Jagoe claimed fourth in the 5000-meter run in a time of 15:03.51 to become the only non-RPI entry to finish in the top eight in the event.
The Bombers' distance medley relay team of
Drew Taylor,
Conor Ryan,
Jonathan Sadanaga and
Ben Coates posted a time of 10:49.69 to finish fourth overall.
Competition gets underway at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow with the awards ceremony scheduled to take place at approximately 4 p.m.
