Ithaca Athletics Finishes Fall 18th in Directors Cup Standings

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings following the conclusion of the 2022 fall season were released on December 22 and Ithaca College finished 18th out of 168 institutions with 202.5 points.

Four fall sports sponsored by IC accumulated points in what was the one of the best fall seasons for the Bombers in recent memory. Ithaca was 17th after the fall in 2020, and prior to that, the 2004-05 season concluded with a 14th place ranking.

Football paced Ithaca with 70 points with a tie for fifth place after reaching the national quarterfinals, while women's soccer and volleyball each received 50 points for their trips to the second round. Women's cross country earned 32.5 point after their performance at the NCAA Niagara Regional.

Ithaca holds a 75-point lead over the next closest Liberty League rival, St. Lawrence University, which tallied 127.5 points during the fall. Hobart and William Smith Colleges are right behind St. Lawrence with 126 points and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute picked up 120 points.

The Bombers are also the top school in New York after the fall, as they lead SUNY Cortland by 13.5 points.

Johns Hopkins University produced 500.5 points to lead all Division III schools after the Blue Jays won the women's cross country and women's soccer national championships. Hopkins' field hockey team was also the national runner-up, while men's soccer and volleyball made trips to the quarterfinals, and men's cross country placed 12th.
