Volleyball Take All Three Sets at Home Against Union

Ithaca, N.Y.– The Ithaca College women's volleyball team swept Union College in straight sets on Saturday, October 8 in Ben Light Gymnasium

The Bombers dominated the first set, winning 25–13. The Bombers opened the set with seven straight points, but Union brought the set to within one point at 8–7. A kill from Leila Chipepo sparked a five-point run, and the Bombers broke away from there.

Both teams went back-and-forth to start the second set. Up 16–10 in the set, the Bombers went on a six-point run to take a 22–10 lead. The Bombers closed out the set with kills from Alexandra Montgomery, Jamie Koopman and Faith Sabatier.

Once again, the Bombers got hot again early in the third set, taking a big 16–3 lead. They dominated the rest of the set, winning 25–8.

Jennifer Pitts and Alexandra Montgomery led all players with 10 kills each and Peyton Miller had 30 assists. Defensively, Elli Gaskill led the Bombers with 14 digs and Jamie Koopman totaled four blocks.

REACTION FROM HEAD COACH JOHAN DULFER

"I'm very proud of how we grew into the match today. I didn't think we started the match particularly well, but we grew into our mindset and took care of business together. "

The Bombers made it 11 consecutive wins in a row and now have a 14-3 record on the season. Ithaca will host nearby SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Ben Light Gymnasium.
