Outstanding Week of Play Leads to Six Bombers Named to Liberty League Performers of the Week

ITHACA, N.Y. – It was a great week for Ithaca College athletics as the Bombers continued to push for postseason play and the men's & women's swimming and diving programs got their season underway as six individual student-athletes were honored for their outstanding performances. They were recognized for their outstanding play during the week of Oct. 10-16 as seven others were recognized on the Liberty League Honor Roll.

Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Week – Jessica Goode
Jessica Goode was the top runner for Ithaca at the Inter-Region Border Battle with a 17th place finish in a time of 22:46.9 and was the third fastest first-year competing in the event.

Field Hockey Offensive Performer of the Week- Natalie Descalso
Natalie Descalso scored four goals with one assist during a 3-0 week for Ithaca, including game-winners against New Paltz and St. Lawrence. Descalso tallied both goals in a 2-1 overtime win at New Paltz, and then netted the winning goal in double OT at St. Lawrence. She concluded her week with a goal and assist against Skidmore.

Women's Soccer Offensive Performer of the Week – Ally Stanton
Ally Stanton helped spearhead a come from behind victory over Union College as the Bombers went 1-0-1. Stanton scored the second goal of the match in the 43rd minute as Julia Cascone whipped in a picture-perfect corner kick that bounced to Stanton's feet who immediately fired it into the back of the net. Stanton went on to complete her brace with the game-winner and team-leading seventh goal of the season with just 12 seconds remaining. She was sent in on a through ball from Cascone and the junior forward didn't falter as she beat the Dutchwomen goalkeeper for the game-winner.

Men's Swimming & Diving Swimmer of the Week – James Collishaw
The Bombers saw James Collishaw, Michael Paulos, Matthew Mitros and Ben Young team up for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a recorded time of 1:36.44. The talented junior also won the 50-yard freestyle (21.60), 100-yard freestyle (47.08) and the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 28.05.

Women's Swimming & Diving Swimmer of the Week – Sonia Mlakar
Sonia Mlakar made her colligate debut for the Bombers as they dominated Fredonia State, William Smith and Buffalo State as she began her meet teaming with Abigail Ignagni, Emily VanderSleen and Jane Pfeufer with a 200-yard medley relay time of 1:50.29. She went on to win the 100-yard backstroke (58.02), 50-yard backstroke (27.75) and the 100-yard butterfly with a recorded time of 58.63.

Volleyball Rookie of the Week – Maddie Cox
IC volleyball had a 3-1 week that included a pair of reverse sweeps over Salisbury University and Marymount University. First year setter Maddie Cox had an impressive week totaling 133 assists, including a season-best 51 against Mary Washington where she also recorded a double-double with 16 digs and five total blocks. She also had a pair of service aces that shifted the momentum in the five-set win over Marymount.

HONOR ROLL
Jacqueline Mirabile notched three defensive saves, two goals and one assist this week as Ithaca went 3-0. Mirabile made two defensive saves against New Paltz in the first game of the week and then made another against St. Lawrence. She finished out her week with a goal and assist against Skidmore.

A.J. Wingfield threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns as he went 22-for-35 during a 40-0 win over St. Lawrence. Wingfield also rushed for 14 yards on three carries. His first touchdown pass of the day was five yards to
Julien Deumaga and then he recorded a 59-yard score to Michael Anderson.

Jake Connolly recorded six total tackles and a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown during Ithaca's 40-0 win over St. Lawrence.

Nicholas Bahamonde scored 10 points as Ithaca defeated St. Lawrence, 40-0. Bahamonde made all four extra point attempts in the game and converted both field goal tries from 24 and 31 yards. He also recorded two touchbacks on eight kickoffs.

Reefe Harrison netted his first goal of the season in the 1-1 tie against Skidmore and dished out an assist in the 3-1 win for Ithaca over Union College. The junior midfielder received the ball at the top of the 18-yard box and kicked a rocket from the top of the 18-yard box to give Ithaca a no-doubt equalizer which tied the game 1-1. In his assist against the Dutchmen, he crossed in a ball that found the right foot of Jack McCarthy who slotted it past the opposing keeper.

Sophomore defender Allison Heft helped lead the Bombers to their seventh shutout of the season in the 0-0 draw against Skidmore on Friday as the Bombers went 1-0-1. Heft has been a defensive leader along the backline as the IC as Heft was also nearly got on the scoreboard in the closing seconds of the match with a header, which was one of her four shot attempts, but it was corralled by the Thoroughbreds goalkeeper.

Karalyn Pawcio was consistent in the season-opening meet with a pair of second-place finishes at the Bombers home meet against Buffalo State, Fredonia State and William Smith. Pawcio totaled 238.00 points on the 3-meter board and also finished second on the 1-meter finishing behind teammate Leah Levin (255.40) with a finals score of 248.75.
