CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team fell to St. Lawrence 1-0 in a hard-fought conference matchup on Saturday afternoon on the road at Sandy MacAllaster field.
It was an even contest with both teams registering 12 shots each until St. Lawrence broke through in the 71
st minute on an own goal by the Bombers. An attempted clearance off a cross from a St. Lawrence attacker ricocheted off the foot of an Ithaca defender, beating goalkeeper
Ian Whitfield and put the Saints in the lead with just under 20 minutes left to play.
Ithaca dominated most of the play, forcing the Saints goalkeeper to make five saves in order to hold onto the victory.
Conor Baird led the Bombers with four shots, while
Brendan Lebitsch and
Emmett Delesie each had two.
Ithaca drops to 0-1-2 in Liberty League play, and 1-5-4 overall. St. Lawrence improved to 2-0-1 in conference play, and 6-1-3 overall. The Bombers will travel to Bard on Saturday, October 8 for a 2 p.m. kickoff where they will look to capture their first Liberty League win on the year.
