ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is excited to welcome
Frank Maira to its staff as the new athletics communications specialist. Maira will begin his appointment at Ithaca on August 16.

Maira will work alongside
Justin Lutes, associate director of athletics communications, as the duo will cover all 27 intercollegiate athletics programs on South Hill. Maira will serve as the direct contact for men's and women's crew/sculling, men's lacrosse, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis, softball, volleyball, women's basketball and wrestling.

"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the Ithaca Bomber family and can't wait to hit the ground running, while telling the excellent stories of the student-athletes on campus."
Maira spent the last four years as the assistant director of athletics/sports information director at Penn State Mont Alto. Maira served as the primary media contact for Mont Alto's 12 intercollegiate teams as well as is responsible for intramural programming and club sports on campus.

He was instrumental in the website redesign of
psumontaltoathletics.com that made the webpage easier to navigate as well as visually appealing. Maira worked several years to build and maintain a credible infrastructure for the athletics social media accounts at Mont Alto creating original content while also serving as a spokesperson with sports news media on behalf of the University.

Maira arrived at Penn State Mont Alto with two years of sports information experience at the NCAA Division II & III levels, having served as a graduate assistant at Millersville University from 2014-2016 and as an athletic communications intern at Franklin & Marshall College in 2016.

He earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast & digital communications in 2014 from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa., and then received a master's degree in sport management from Millersville University in 2016.

While at Westminster, he was a four-year member of the football team, served as the sports editor for
The Holcad where he was responsible for designing the sports section of the 24 yearly issues, while also writing a feature story and assigning story ideas for staff writers.

Maira, a native of Churchville, N.Y., also researched and produced an 11-minute documentary on four Rochester Red Wings' roads to Major League Baseball and how there isn't one specific journey to the show.
