No. 7 Women's Lacrosse Breezes Past St. Lawrence in Liberty League Semifinal

Ithaca, N.Y. - The 7th-ranked Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse team defeated St. Lawrence 20-8 to advance to the Liberty League Championship Game for the third time in as many seasons playing in the tournament. The Bombers kept their undefeated season intact at 12-0 while St. Lawrence finished the season at 4-4.

How it Happened: The opening minutes of the game were played at a frantic pace. Senior Megan Motkowski scored the first two goals of the game just two minutes in. St. Lawrence got on the board on a goal from Charlotte Powell, but senior Alex Rabb took over, netting a hat trick in less than one minute of game time. Caroline Grant added one more as Ithaca took a 6-1 lead with 21:41 to play in the half. The teams would each put up four more goals in the half as Ithaca held a 10-5 lead.

Alex Rabb again opened the scoring in the second half. Rachel Burke cut the Ithaca lead back to five, but the Bombers would outscore the Saints 9-2 for the remainder of the game, including two goals from first year Maizy Veitch.

Game Leaders: Rabb and fellow senior Jacqui Hallack each scored five goals for Ithaca. Hallack added two assists for seven points and Rabb notched one assist for six points. Senior Megan Motkowski netted a hat trick and an assist for the Bombers, while senior Madison Boutureira scored two goals and had a team-high three assists.  

Senior Rachel Rosenberg caused a team-high four turnovers for Ithaca, while Hallack and Boutureira tied for a team-high four ground balls apiece. Three goals on Ithaca's roster earned playing time.

Up Next: Ithaca will face second-seeded William Smith in the Liberty League Championship Game on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. It will be the third consecutive Liberty League Championship Game matchup between the Bombers and the No. 19 Herons. William Smith has won the previous two in Geneva.
