Men's Lacrosse Suffers Setback at No. 14 St. Lawrence

Canton, N.Y. - The Ithaca College Men's Lacrosse team suffered a 17-7 defeat at the hands of No. 14 St. Lawrence. Ithaca fell to 4-3 on the season (2-2 Liberty League) while the Saints improved to 5-2 (3-2 Liberty League).

How it Happened: St. Lawrence got out to a slow 2-0 lead in the first quarter, but Ithaca answered right back with two goals of their own. The Saints got one more on the board before the end of the opening quarter. Saint Lawrence dominated the second quarter, outsourcing Ithaca 5-1 in the period for a 8-3 halftime lead.

The Saints really took control of the game in the third quarter, out-scoring the Bombers 6-0 to build a 14-3 lead. St. Lawrence would only build on that early in the fourth, adding two more to make the score 16-3. Ithaca finally ended the run with 11 minutes to play on a goal from first year Charlie Neibuhr. That goal was one of four for the Bombers in the final period, but it was too little too late as the Saints scored one more goal to come away with the 17-7 win.

Game Leaders: Niebuhr and senior Connor Brumfield led the Bombers in goals with two apiece. Three other Bombers found the back of the net.

Senior Jake Hall-Goldman led the defense with two caused turnovers while first year Hunter Wallace picked up four ground balls. Junior Connor Thornton made 12 saves for the Bombers, while sophomore Ryan LaForty came in and made two saves in relief of Thornton.

Up Next: The Bombers will stay on the road for a Liberty League contest against Skidmore. The game is scheduled to face off at 4:00 p.m.
