No. 10 Women's Lacrosse Uses Early Blitz to Defeat No. 14 William Smith

Ithaca, N.Y. - The 10th-ranked Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse team used an early 6-0 run to power past No. 14 William Smith. The win ends a five game losing skid for the Bombers against the Herons.

How it Happened: William Smith got on the board first less than 90 seconds into the game, but that was as good as things would get for the Herons. Following the goal, Ithaca scored six straight over a 13-minute span to take a 6-1 lead. William Smith finally found the back of the net again with 11 minutes to go in the half, but struggled to maintain any sort of momentum as the Bombers took a 9-4 lead into halftime.

The Bombers defense continued to be the story of the game in the second half, forcing William Smith to take possessions late into the shot clock and holding the Herons to just three goals in the second half. Ithaca forced 19 William Smith turnovers, including five failed clears on the day.

Game Leaders: Seniors Jacqui Hallack and Alex Rabb led the Bombers offense with a hat trick each for the game. Rabb also assisted on two goals to lead Ithaca with five points. Defensively, senior Rachel Rosenberg anchored the Bombers with three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Next Up: Ithaca and William Smith will meet again in Geneva, N.Y. tomorrow, Saturday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m.
