Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse | | Thomas Edson, '21

No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Falls to Top-Ranked RIT

Rochester, N.Y. - The 20th-ranked Ithaca College Men's Lacrosse Team suffered its second setback of the season in a 21-6 loss to No. 1 RIT. The Tigers looked fresh and ready coming off of a nearly three week pause and rode early momentum to a comfortable win.

How it Happened: The top-ranked Tigers started fast, scoring the first four goals of the game. Ithaca found the back of the net for the first time on a goal from first-year John Sramac with 8:25 remaining in the opening period, but RIT scored the last four goals of the quarter to build an 8-1 lead. The scoring slowed dramatically to start the second before RIT broke the ice to extend their lead to 9-1 with 8:05 left in the second quarter. Ithaca answered on a goal from junior Drew Turner, but the offense struggled to maintain any momentum as the Tigers led 11-3 at the break.

RIT put the game out of reach with a 5-0 third quarter to extend their lead to 16-3. Ithaca managed three goals in the fourth quarter, including two from Sramac to give him a hat trick on the day, but RIT continued to find the back of the net.

Game Leaders: Sramac led the Bombers with his three goals. Turner, first-year Charlie Niebuhr, and senior Ted Kapp all scored one goal apiece. Kapp, senior Connor Till, and sophomore Wesley Hudkins each recorded an assist.

First-year Hunter Wallace led the defense with two caused turnovers. Wallace and Sramac tied for a team-high four ground balls. In goal, junior Connor Thornton recorded 10 saves.

Up Next: Ithaca will return home on Wednesday, April 21 for a home Liberty League matchup with No. 9 Union College. Face-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
