No. 11 Women's Lacrosse Defeats RIT, Completes Regular Season Sweep

Ithaca, N.Y. - The 11th-ranked Ithaca College Women's Lacrosse Team defeated the RIT Tigers for the second time in as many days by a score of 21-9. The Bombers completed the regular season sweep of the Tigers with a complete team effort.

How it Happened: RIT opened the scoring in the game to take a 1-0 lead before Ithaca scored two in a row from seniors Alexa Ritchie and Jacqui Hallack. RIT answered with a short 2-0 run of their own before the Bombers regained the lead with a 4-0 run to build a 6-3 lead. From there the teams traded goals until Ithaca used a 4-0 run to take a 12-6 halftime lead.

The Bombers defense tightened up in the second half, only allowing three goals as sophomore Kayla Howley stepped into net and recorded six saves. The Ithaca offense continued to find the back of the net in the second half, highlighted by first-years Sydney Phillips and Lexi Kellish scoring their first career goals.

Game Leaders: Hallack and Ritchie again paced the offense for Ithaca with six and four goals, respectively. Senior Madison Boutereira scored a hat trick. Six other Bombers found the back of the net. Defensively, nine Bombers recorded a caused turnover and eight picked up at least one ground ball. Senior Mackenzie Schade also made three saves in one half of action.

Next Up: Ithaca will host Liberty League rival No. 15 William Smith on Friday, April 2 at 4:00 p.m.
