CORTLAND, N.Y. – Despite mounting a fourth quarter comeback after trailing by 12 points entering the final 10 minutes of play, the Ithaca College women's basketball team dropped a narrow 68-64 decision to SUNY Cortland on Friday evening. The non-conference loss drops Ithaca to 2-1 overall while the Red Dragons improved to 2-2 on the 2021-22 season.

How it Happened
- Cortland was assessed an administrative technical foul to begin the contest as the lights on one of the backboards were not working, which led to the Bombers scoring the first point of the game at the charity stripe. The Red Dragons rallied and were up 8-7 before a Camryn Coffey 3-pointer saw IC regain the lead at 10-8. Cortland went on a scoring spurt to end the first quarter going on a 13-4 run as they held a 20-14 advantage.
- The Bombers rallied in the second quarter as a Cara Volpe layup with 7:00 remaining in the period cut the deficit to four (25-21). They traded buckets for the next five minute stretch of play and back-to-back baskets from Grace Cannon saw Ithaca take the 31-30 lead with 1:14 left in the half. Ithaca maintained the one-point advantage going into halftime (33-32) thanks to a Cara Volpe layup.
- A series of bad IC turnovers saw Cortland gain momentum in the middle of the third quarter as they went up 53-42 on the heels of two-straight layups from Corrine Miedreich. The Red Dragons carried a 56-44 lead going into the final 10 minutes of play.
- Ithaca outscored the home team 20-12 in the fourth quarter, but missed free throws down the stretch killed all momentum. The Bombers were 8-for-8 from the line after the third quarter and finished 14-for-26 as they certainly had their chances during the last three minutes of the contest.
The Bombers will close out this two-game road trip on Saturday as they will take on Keuka College at 2 p.m. They will then enter the Thanksgiving break and return to the floor following the holiday with a home matchup against SUNY Geneseo on Tuesday, Nov. 30.
