CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's soccer team capitalized on the consistent pressure that they were applying in their attacking third of the field and a goal was netted with just over six minutes remaining in the match and it proved to be enough to push them past No. 23 St. Lawrence University, 1-0. The Bombers improved to 7-2 overall and 2-1 within the Liberty League while St. Lawrence University fell to 4-2-2 on the season and 1-1-1 in conference action.
It was an extremely active first half with the teams combining for 21 shots and IC goalkeeper
Claire Reader was quite active making three saves within the opening 45 minutes of the match. The Bombers held a 13-6 shot advantage going into the halftime break. It took several nice saves from the Saints goalkeeper Keely Snode to keep the game goalless with her making a nice save in the 30
th minute on a

The Bombers defense fended off a goal scoring opportunity by St. Lawrence in the 75
th minute with Duun O'Hara forcing a
Claire Reader save and the ensuing rebound was fired wide of the goal frame just seconds later by Alyvia Ronning.
The goalless deadlock was finally broken at the 83:56 mark when
Alex Epifani sent a through ball past the Saints defensive line and
Megan Buttinger scored her second goal of the season besting the opposing keeper. Buttinger got onto the ball in the 18-yard box and sliced her shot attempt into the back of the net. St. Lawrence had one final chance to equalize in the 88
th minute, but
Claire Reader was there once again to record a save.
The sophomore goalkeeper faced a season-high 17 shots and recorded six saves for her fourth career shutout. The Bombers had a total of 23 shot attempts with
Alex Epifani leading all athletes with six, including two on target.
Ithaca College will play its final non-conference match of the season when the team travels to Alfred University on Tuesday, October 5. Game time in Alfred, N.Y. is slated for 7 p.m.
